Board Meeting Speech Update:
On November 19th, the Woodland Federation of Teachers and Staff (WFTS) addressed our continued concerns with the Woodland School Board of Education (BOE) regarding chronic low pay and recruitment/retention issues.
The core WFTS message to the BOE in this speech was:
You have the choice. Do you want to solve this recruitment and retention problem now, without any strings attached? Do you want to invest in our current students? We all know the district has the funds on hand, and we know that investing in our teachers and staff IS an investment in our students. But do you have the willingness to make that commitment?
Or do you, the Board of Education, want to be responsible for the continuation of the status quo? Underappreciated staff and teachers, understaffed schools, low morale, and students left behind as a result.
WFTS thinks the choice is clear.
